Annual Summer Celebration
Join us for a full day of celebrating the opening of new exhibitions - Power of the Page: Artists’ Books as Agents for Change and Abstracts From Life: Bay Area Figurative Past and Present, and bidding a final adieu to our closing exhibitions, Cement Prairie: The History and Legacy of the 1952 American Indian Urban Relocation Act and Back From Extinction: Muwekma Ohlone’s Heritage, History, and Legacy.
Our Summer Celebration will also include a community participation project, Seeds of Hope: A Project in Support of Immigrants, lead by by Bay Area artist Michelle Théberge. Seeds of Hope is an interactive installation artwork that seeks to amplify the dreams and hopes of all Americans. You'
Exhibiting artist, Michelle Wilson will lead an art-making project that invites visitors to create activist posters on hand-pulped paper. This fun and stimulating art project is a continuation of Wilson's ongoing Books Bombs community installation series.
Visitors - kids and adults - will also be invited to partake in other art making projects throughout the galleries, including, tipi painting, and MakerSpace crafts and activities.
